GO Transit Launches “Freedom to GO” Program

(Oshkosh, WI) GO Transit is proud to announce that effective October 6, 2012 seniors and persons with disabilities will be able to ride GO Transit buses for free on Saturdays. The “Freedom to GO” Program will run every Saturday from October 6, 2012 through March 30, 2013. To qualify for the free fare, seniors age 60 and older need to present the driver with proof of age each time they board, while persons with disabilities must present their ADA paratransit card or valid Medicare card.

“The Freedom to GO Program is designed to remove barriers, and provide a risk-free opportunity for our seniors and persons with disabilities to try GO Transit,” said Chris Strong, City of Oshkosh Transportation Director and Manager of GO Transit. “We believe new riders will discover that our great bus service meets their mobility needs within the city.”

The Freedom to GO Program was approved by the Transit Advisory Board on August 15, 2012. The free fare program applies to all GO Transit bus routes, including Route 10 service to Neenah, WI. The program does not include GO Plus paratransit services.
