Join the Pumpkin Pageant at Oshkosh Public Library

Children of all ages are invited to grab a pumpkin, shift their creativity into high gear and enter the Pumpkin Pageant at the Oshkosh Public Library. Families can start bringing in decorated pumpkins on Oct. 14. Deadline to enter is Thursday, Oct. 27 at 9 p.m.

This is not a carving contest. Pumpkins will be displayed indoors, so carving would result in the dreaded “fuzzy pumpkin.” Each year contestants come up with creative new ideas for painting, dressing or otherwise decorating their pumpkins without cutting them open.

Decorated pumpkins should be brought to the Children’s Department in the library’s lower level. Final judging takes place on Fri., Oct. 28. Awards will be given out in five age categories and four design categories. There will also be a People’s Choice Award. Children can pick up their pumpkins during the week after Halloween.

Prizes will include new books, food coupons and other goodies.
