Walker signs bill tying test scores to teachers, makes national news AGAIN

According to this article in today's Oshkosh Northwestern and several other papers, including those in other states, Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill that makes it possible for school districts to use students' test scores as a reason to fire teachers. It cannot be the sole reason a teacher gets fired but it could be one of various reasons. Walker says the bill provides flexibility to school districts to reward the best teachers, help mentor those who are struggling and hold those who don't improve accountable to help improve education for all students. On the one hand, it does seem fair that teachers' positions are based on the job they do. On the other hand, there are often outside factors that may make it difficult for some students to learn. I guess I would need to know more about specifically how this is going to work before I could say I support or oppose it. But it would be interesting to hear what teachers think about this.
