Don’t miss the Whoville Holiday Nov. 19 in Downtown Oshkosh
Even the Grinch won’t be able to resist the whimsically festive doings on Saturday, Nov. 19, when everyone who’s anyone gathers for a Whoville Holiday in Downtown Oshkosh.
It’s a day full of fun events and activities for families, sponsored by the businesses and organizations in the Downtown Business Improvement District.
The green eggs and ham-themed Breakfast with the Grinch at the Best Western Waterfront Hotel Ballroom is sold out, but there are plenty of other Whoville activities going on throughout Downtown Oshkosh to get families in the holiday spirit:
Free showings of How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Time Theater
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A Grinchmas Celebration at Oshkosh Public Library
10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Under the Dome
Grinchy good fun includes reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Pin the Heart on the Grinch and Happy Holiday Plinko games; a holiday card-making activity; and a family reading corner. Come in your best Whoville attire to get a photo taken and enter our costume contest. Enter at the old front doors on Washington Avenue. This event is free and open to the public.
Free horse & carriage rides
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Opera House Square
Whoville costume parade & group singalong
Special appearance by Miss Oshkosh and Miss Oshkosh’s Outstanding Teen
Opera House Square
12:30 p.m.
Downtown businesses will feature their own Whoville specials and activities throughout the day. Maps highlighting all of the activities will be available the day of the event at Breakfast with the Grinch, at Whoville Headquarters in Opera House Square and at the Oshkosh Public Library. Throughout the holidays Downtown visitors can see the Whoville displays and window paintings by students in the Gifted and Talented Art Program of the Oshkosh Area School District.
For folks who want to transform their inner Grinch this season, Downtown Oshkosh is collecting donations for the Oshkosh Area Food Pantry, Christine Ann Center and the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. From Nov. 17-Dec. 31 drop off items for any of those organizations at BMO Harris Bank, 50 Pearl Ave. Find wish lists for these charities at www.downtownoshkosh.com.
