Eye On Oshkosh - Goodwill, Job Skills - taped 9-15-2022

When people think of Goodwill they usually think about a place to buy something cool very inexpensively, or as a place where they can get rid of all the stuff they no longer want or need. But it’s so much more than that. Their mission is Elevating People by Eliminating Barriers to Employment. That’s what you’ll learn about on this edition of Eye on Oshkosh. David Foertsch is Goodwill NCW’s Skills to Build program leader. He and host Cheryl Hentz talk about the Skills to Build program and what it is for people who need or want it. They also discuss in-depth Goodwill’s Goodwill Works program and their Skills to Succeed Academy. Many of the modules in these programs are instructor-led or self-directed and can be accessed at their website at GoodwillNCW.org. This is a fantastic program you won’t want to miss. It truly can offer something for almost anyone. The show can be seen here or by going to this link: https://youtu.be/GIqfRdwZaHQ.

Gordon Hintz's Farewell to Politics

In this edition of Eye on Oshkosh, host Cheryl Hentz talks with Rep. Gordon Hintz about his 16 years as a legislator in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Hintz announced several months ago that he would not seek re-election, citing his family as one of the biggest reasons why he was stepping away from office and the public life. He and his wife have two children and they’re now at the age where he needs to be more present as a father and husband. Hentz and Hintz spend the hour talking about the biggest challenges still facing Wisconsin, the things he regrets about not being able to get accomplished while in office, and the legislation he’s most proud of having been a part of to get passed. He also talks about his plans for the future. You can see this “farewell to Gordon” episode here or by clicking on the following link: https://youtu.be/cuT8fySnvpc
