"Reposting" of an earlier story on vehicle breakins

A few months ago we ran a short piece from the Oshkosh Police Department on vehicle break-ins and what people could do about them. Earlier today, someone posted a comment to that story, but because the issue is still a problem, I wanted to refer you to the original story and one from just this week on the Oshkosh Northwestern's web site, which can be found here. Vehicle break-ins in Oshkosh

[Following is a message from the Oshkosh Police Department...]

Hello Everybody,We have recently been experiencing another rash of vehicle break-ins the last three nights.  Most of these have been on the south side of town, however, last night they hit the north side and specifically District 2. Just as a reminder please take anything of value out of your car every night and always lock your car doors. Most of the thefts are of electronics such as GPS units, IPods, MP3 players, CDs, cell phones, etc. If you see any suspicious people in your neighborhood especially during the hours of darkness please call 911 and give the dispatcher the best description of the person(s) that you can.  DO NOT try to catch them….YOUR job is to report, and OUR job is to apprehend. Thanks everybody, enjoy the warm weather!
